What's Reiki and how does it works ?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that utilises energy as a way to heal, relax, and rejuvenate the body. The word Reiki comes from ‘rei’ meaning universal, and ‘ki’ meaning life energy. The practice of Reiki is centred around clearing the ‘blockages’ in the body that can be caused by pain, depression, and other daily stresses.

Reiki is a non-invasive and relaxing practice that can be used to treat a wide range of issues. Although Reiki isn’t a ‘cure’ for everything, it’s widely used to supplement other medications or therapies. Stress, emotional turmoil, injuries, and other issues can cause ‘blockages’ in the body, which (when left untreated) can strain the natural energy regulation. Reiki works by clearing these blockages and brings back the natural state where energy flows uninhibited through the body. A Reiki practitioner doesn’t create the energy that is used, they’re simply the channel for it.

Reiki has a wide range of benefits, and can be used to treat a variety of issues. It’s incredibly effective on mental and emotional issues, such as anxiety, depression, reducing stress etc. One of Reiki’s main benefits is the deep relaxation that can last for weeks after a session, which is perfect for people that have a high-stress life. Reiki can also help a variety of physical issues too; including encouraging faster cell regrowth, and stimulating the immune system. In 2015, a study was done on cancer patients that looked at the difference between patients using conventional treatment, and patients using unconventional treatment and 30-minute distanced Reiki sessions for a week. It was found that using distanced Reiki alongside treatment resulted in significantly lower levels of pain, anxiety, and fatigue. Because Reiki is non-invasive and has no negative side effects, it’s incredibly easy to fit it into your usual routine.

So how does Reiki work? For in-person treatments, we have a quiet, relaxed setting so you can feel as comfortable as possible. For distanced Reiki, we just need a few easy things- a picture of the person receiving the treatment, the date of birth, their general location, and their name. Distanced Reiki can often be more effective than in-person, as the healing can be directed straight to where it is needed, not where you think it’s needed. If you have any concerns or areas that you want to be focused on, let us know and we would be happy to accommodate this. For acute situations or if you’ve got chronic issues, we recommend multiple sessions of Reiki to get the best possible results.

Life can be very stressful, and many people may not realise how your body can be affected by constant pressure. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive way to help restabilise the energy throughout the body, and can improve both physical and emotional health.
